Greetings, green planet!
August 13th marked the third Saturday that Jess ("hi!") and Lindsey ("hi") have been running and operating the Kittery showroom at The Clean Bedroom - and boy, are we learning a lot. In between tasks, we decided to do a little “product research” and try out all the pillows and mattress pads we have in the showroom.
(Lindsey) My favorite pillow is - no surprise, as it is one of the most popular pillows at the moment - the Natura Dream Mate pillow. A side sleeper, I need enough 'umph' in a pillow to hold my head up and provide space for my shoulder, but not so much 'umph' that my head and neck are propped up. The Dream Mate meets that perfect halfway point, allowing my head to sink comfortably in, and still providing the support that I need.
(Jess) As far as first impressions go, one of my favorite pillows, thus far, is the Shambho Organic Millet Hull Pillow. It is a slightly smaller-sized pillow and one of our firmest options. Both of these features seem to contribute to the incredible support that it offers. It works wonderfully for both back and side sleepers, and, because you can manipulate the hulls, it can be shaped to perfectly fit your body size and shape. One side has a cushy wool layer that adds some plushness to such a firm support. Overall, this pillow molds well with your contours and is extremely huggable. And I find the earthy scent from the millet hulls to be extremely therapeutic.
(Lindsey) After comparing the Naturepedic No-Compromise Waterproof pad with the Natura Fitted Washable Wool pad, I decided I especially liked the Naturepedic pad, because it didn’t add too much padding. The tightly-woven material was thin enough not to interfere with the comfort of the mattress and still provided that protective barrier that a mattress pad is intended to provide.
(Jess) I agree with Lindsey as far as these two pads go. The Natura fitted pad seemed to offer more cushiness, which seems unnecessary if you have found a mattress that you like as-is. The material seemed a little noisy and the fitted fabric option seemed to be a bit bulky. If I were to buy a mattress pad for a mattress I already liked, I would go for the more discreet option - the Naturepedic.
Thanks for visiting! Tune in next time to hear us say, “We love organic mattresses!”
