We, as humans have different activities daily and these activities sometimes wear the body out. This accumulated stress affects the way we sleep, and just as importantly how fast we fall asleep. No matter how much stress the body is going through, there are ways the body can fight this stress in order to relieve the body and sleep more comfortably.

Turn the lights off

It does sound obvious, but often people forget to turn the lights off. Waking up is usually brought about by daylight so to be in the mood and be ready to sleep, turn the lights off and every other source of light in the room. Even if there’s any need for you to check your phone, make sure the brightness is low. To bring sleep more quickly, turn off all your electronics up to two hours before you go to bed.

Play soft music

You may be an auditory person, in fact, a large percentage of human beings are affected by calm, soothing music. It could be a classical, country or peaceful music. It could also be gentle strums of the guitar. Bottomline is, as long as it calms your nerves, you will fall into a peaceful sleep.

Read a book

Reading a book slows the mind down and calms you down for quality sleep to come. It works too if you wake up and are unable to go back to bed. Reading a book helps you drift into a fitful sleep.

Make a to-do list

Instead of bothering yourself over what you have to get done, write them all down. So every evening before hitting the hay, sit down and write everything you have to do the next day down. This technique makes you have less to worry about so you can sleep comfortably without having to worry about your next day tasks after lying down.
